Finally an update with progress pictures!

Ok, just one picture, but it's something.

I've been working on the bracers today, and even though I've only finished one of them I'm so disgustingly happy with how it turned out that I need to share.

Yay for shitty photobooth pictures! )

Hopefully the second one will go much fast, since I know what I'm doing now. :P

Also: I finally have the fabric of ALL the pieces of this costume. YAY!

No pictures, but an update on cosplay type things!

I have been completely run into the ground by work and summer classes lately, so my cosplay working time has been scarce. But things have been smoothing out a little bit lately. I'm currently finishing up the pants for Invasion Toph and patterning out the top/tunic. I couldn't find a pattern that even remotely resembled her top, so I'm just making a mockup and winging it. I've also been having troubles finding a fabric I like for that. All the plain, non-stretch cotton I've found has just been too thin. I found an amazing fabric that would've been perfect and looked very authentic, but it was miles out of my price range (100% silk is pricy XD). Tomorrow I'm working the late shift and Saturday I'm not working at all, so fabric shopping is going to be my primary plan this weekend.

Also, today my STUDS arrived. Which has me way more excited than it should. But I have to recommend Studs and Spikes. Super cheap, prompt shipping, and EXACTLY what I wanted. They even have a tutorial linked on their website on how to stud things. They have a huge variety too. Good stuff.

I'm trying to get Invasion Toph at least 80% done by next weekend. My cosplay crew and I are going to be having a finale watching/cosplay finishing party next Saturday, and hopefully stuff will get completed enough for pictures! The one thing I don't think I'm going to have by then is the leather for the belt and ankle cuffs. But I have a bunch of leftover brown vinyl so I might make a super quick temporary belt for picture taking. The helmet will probably be made AT the party, since all the materials are in the possession of Dawn and Tom.

THE END. Wasn't that long and boring? :D

Just a few costume photos! I went up to visit [info]anetherealtwist (Suki in my Avatar cosplay crew) last weekend, and I brought along my Toph cosplay so we could to a little photoshooting. I haven't gotten all the pictures from her yet, but here is a sampling!

Pictures taken by [info]anetherealtwist's sister.

This way to pictures! )

ey guys! I figured it was about time I made a post in here.

Not a whole lot, but here's some pictures I've collected of my Avatar cosplay at Anime Boston and New York Comic Con!

The Fire Nation Toph and Appa costumes were made by me, with Appa being worn most of the time by [info]trufflehog (he was also worn for brief periods of time by [info]booboobunnygirl and another friend at AB). All other costumes were made by their various creators.

None of these pictures were taken by me. Some were taken by friends and the rest were collected from various places online.

BONUS:
My Avatar group and I are featured in the end of this video report from NYCC:

THAT'S ALL FOR NOW! I know most of you who watch this group have seen a lot of this before, but I'll be starting on my new costumes for Otakon soonish, so I will have some more interesting stuff to post here. :P
